A personal look at tech and its uses in my daily life

I was reading some of my news feeds and stumbled across a link for Myna. I love it when I am surprised by something new out and this one has got me! Myna is a track based audio mixer that is WEB BASED! I can’t believe that cloud based software has come this far. I originally though that it would be a cool interface visually but would be clunky to use. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Use Myna to remix music tracks and audio clips. Apply sound effects and record your own voice or instruments!

I took a look at their demo of the product and was still skeptical because usually the people who make the product can really blaze through things making it seem more simple than it is. Well if you have ever used a program such as this, then I can guarantee you will find your way around here.

Here is their video demo of the service:

Aviary is the company that created this new tool and if you hit their main page they have a bunch of cool cloud apps. Take a look at their image editing program and you will be blown away!

Things like this are so cool. I love the fact that it’s available to everyone and it’s free!

This is more of a gush post than anything. In preparation for a trip to Maine with my family, a place I have been going to every summer since I was 3 years old – Google’s Street View helps me locate a missing piece of my memory.

You see; as a family with my parents we would always stay at an apartment rental near the beach which you rent by the week. Due to budgets being a little tighter these past couple of years we were forced to try and find a place we could rent by the night. With success it is still very close to where I am used to but I couldn’t picture the building when I was talking about it with my parents.

GOOGLE MAPS! It pops into my head and off to my laptop I go. This is my first actual real reason for using Street View. I have played around with it to have a look at Central Park, San Fran and a few other things but to actually need to find a building by image so I could remember which on it was – never!

Sure enough the Google car has been down that little street that heads out to the coast and within 30 seconds I was able to exclaim – “Oh, THAT building!”.

It was also nice to take a “drive” down the street to check out all the places that my brothers and I hung around at. The arcade, the Beachcomber corner store, the beach view. I can hardly wait now!

    Amazing.

I just screwed up my Gallery2

I was in the process of deleting some pictures that weren’t the best quality and hit the wrong button. That really ticks me off because I spent a lot of time keeping that up to date and with a quick clickety click it’s all gone. So all of you Gallery2 users out there be careful about what section you are in when you are deleting things.

Now I have a screwed up Gallery2 page and I am in the process of changing my OS. I am going to have to find a way to upload to Gallery2 from iPhoto. I know of a plugin but the issue is iLife ’09 compatibility. Not sure if it works.
