What the hell is with the weather around here?

I know I bill myself as a techy blog but holy crap! The weather this summer has been horrible the entire summer. This is what we saw rolling over the island of Montreal yesterday!

It is starting to get a little tired with all the rain. At our cottage one of the local retailers was saying that they were on their 49th strait day of rain up there. Not that we have been blessed with good weather here, we only missed that by 2 days apparently.

This is our current forecast… everyone please wish us luck. I can only hope that things are on the upswing.

How is the weather in your neck of the woods? Are you experiencing what feels like the end of the world as well?

Random searching, interesting site found.

I was looking around on Viewzi after Chris Pirillo mentioned it on twitter today and usually when I do a search for the first time on a new service I search for “Sleepy Geek”. This one came out kind of interesting because I ended up finding a digg article mentioning Sleepy Geek. Totally unrelated to my site but quite interesting none the less. I think it applies to me :)

Take a look at the result here. If you click through the multiple levels of references you end up with an article from a UK site about tired people spending too much time on techy type stuff.

Interesting read, take a look. Then go to sleep. ‘Cause for crying out loud, this is one of the reason’s you are tired!

More sleepy than geek

I am sooo freekin’ tired that I can’t come up with something better to write about. It is consuming me, so… that’s the topic of the night. I wonder how some people get on with a good sleep even when their lives are so busy. Sometimes it feels like the more tired I get the more trouble I have sleeping.

I can’t be in the minority here. Please tell me I am not in the minority! I write this from my counter with my kitchen computer (yes I really am a geek) and I think I am off to bed.
I need to ask… Do you have any tricks for a good night sleep? Is there something that you use; perhaps a piece of technology, to get a better sleep?
Please share! :)

Why am I The Sleepy Geek?

Today is one of those days. We had a busy weekend. It was a great weekend and I am not complaining at all. But even though the cottage is a place of relaxation and peace, it still takes a lot of work to get it up and running. Saturday I woke up to the sound of the water pump running. Still in a daze in the wee hours of the morning, I went downstairs to find that the pipe connecting the pump to the tank was blown. Time for a trip into town. We got the docks in and the boat in after lunch. The boat ran well but by the time it was in and parked the rain moved in. It wasn’t a big problem because it was time to cook supper, one of my favorite things to do.

Sunday was a slower day but by the end of the day our daughter of 17 months was not feeling so well. We decided to stay the night up north and see if it was maybe something she ate, but no luck. So we headed home early on Monday morning.

Last night was long. My wife gets the worst of it though, babies always want mommy when they are sick. Can’t blame them really :)

So I am at work, sleepy… doing geeky stuff. I believe that when I get home it will be supper and then get the kids to sleep. Then I will probably have to work on some repairs I have.

New domain registration complete!

It’s done. I have decided to officially go with The Sleepy Geek as a persona. The website is http://www.thesleepygeek.com and that’s where I am going to host ‘le blog’. Yay! It’s an exciting moment because this is a big milestone in the quest to build The Sleepy Geek world.

Now all of you need to come and read my fun articles about my lack of sleep. Maybe you all need some Valium to slow down to my speed. We’ll have to see.

Enough fluff! How did I do it? Well I went with my domain hosting company who offers great rates for registration. I am using Dreamhost currently. I haven’t found any better out there and I don’t have any sponsors yet so it’s an unbiased plug. Currently they are hosting this site and a couple of personal sites that I have for family pictures and what not. “Yeah, yeah, yeah… HOW MUCH???”. They are offering domain registrations for $10 USD per year right now. I have heard of some companies charging $6-8, but ease of having my domains and space hosted by the same people is worth the couple of dollars.

So welcome to one and all. This is really the first post to the blog with the new domain. You are witnessing HISTORY! Okay, we’ll see ’bout that!
